Here is a simple and easy way to make your own crayon lipstick, let your imagination run wild with the color combinations you can creat.
- 1 new crayon (crayon works best as it has great pigmentation)
- 1/2 tsp (heaping)of coconut oil
- 1/4 tsp petroleum jelly
- A container (with lid for your finished product)
- A small saucepan (filled about half way with water)
- A small bowl or jar
Begin by peeling your crayon’s wrapper off and then breaking it into a small pieces so it will melt faster. Meanwhile, heat your saucepan (half full of water) to medium heat. In your small jar or glass bowl, dump your heaping 1/2 tsp of coconut oil and 1/4 tsp petroluem jelly, and add your crayon pieces. Place the container in your pre-heated water bath in the saucepan. Stir frequently to help mix the ingredients and ensure nothing burns. It won’t take very long for everything to melt completely. Once your mixture is completely melted, turn off the heat and carefully remove your glass container from the saucepan. Very carefully pour the mixture into your lipstick container (we used a pill case). Refrigerate your new lipstick, with no lid on, for at least 10min. Once the mixture has hardened, it is read to use! My daughter uses a lip brush to apply hers. Note that it will be very hard when it is cold, but will have a softer texture once it gets back to room temperature.
